- What is the pricing model for this initiative?
NexMedia is a B to B platform. While the platform supports pay-per-view, flat subscription rate or purchase mode, Content Owners will decide what is best & appropriate for their respective situation/business model.
- How is payment handled?
We have enabled a Payment Gateway thru' TeleMoney. Users can pay using either Visa or MasterCard.
- Can you give estimated prices if you can't release exact prices?
The Content Owners will decide on their respective pricing applicable to end users. 1-Net will be adopting a very flexible approach in engaging Content Owners and Aggregators. We will negotiate on basis of the type & appeal of the content. We can adopt a straight forward monthly service charge for utilization of bandwidth & related infrastructure or adopt a revenue share model.
- Does 1-Net get a cut or is it only paid for distribution only?
1-Net will adopt a consultative approach in negotiating revenue share or levying service charges for use of the platform. Much will depend on the nature & popularity of the content.
- Which countries will this marketed to first?
The platform is designed to address a global audience, however, we can also specifically target certain geographical regions.
- What kind of servers are being used for this particular venture?
HP is our Hardware Technology Partner. Therefore, the hardware deployed is based on HP platform.
- Anything special about the media delivery hardware?
This is a global media delivery system. We will be deploying cutting-edge servers to serve the users better. The media delivery system will be constantly monitored and upgraded as demand and business volume grows.
The overall media delivery structure is not just dependent on the delivery hardware, careful planning in the deployment of the media delivery hardware in strategic locations will also contribute significantly to the delivery performance.
- What software platform? Video format?
Microsoft is our Software Technology Partner. Content shall be encoded onto Windows Media format.
- What are you doing to ensure zero latency across the global network?
Content Delivery Servers of some sort like those used during NDP?
Technically it will be extremely challenging to ensure zero latency in the delivery of rich media content on a global basis using the Internet. Users experience will always be heavily dependant on the quality & bandwidth of access connectivity available. For this reason, the download option will always be useful and practical.
- By using NexMedia to provide digital contents, what is the guarantee to content owners in terms of copy rights?
NexMedia provides Digital Rights Management (DRM) and licensing control to ensure successful implementation of on-line digital media delivery. Content providers can be assured that
- their Intellectual Property Rights are safe-guarded;
- they retain control over the media assets;
- opens new possibilities of business/revenue channels.

- Is the service reliable and secure?
Yes. High availability infrastructure with redundancy servers. Border Security with Firewall, Anti-Spam, Anti-Virus and Anti-DDOS capabilities.
- Does the Partner have expertise and track record?
We have several big customers, including public listed and MNCs.
- What is the Total Cost of Ownership?
With NETmail, you only need to make monthly payments on subcription basis, pay-as-you use, increase cost as you grow. You do not need to worry about upfront setup costs, including purchasing hardware for security, mail server, expertise to manage, 24 x 7 support, cost of upgrading etc.
- Are there Predictable Fees?
As above. With NETmail, you only need to make monthly payments on subcription basis, pay-as-you use, increase cost as you grow.
- Can the Solution Scale to meet my business growth?
As above. Pay as you use and grow. Scalability of the our infrastructure is transparent to the users as we provide them with a service. However, our infrastructure is scalable to meet increased customer demands.
- How long is the implementation?
There's no implementation on our part as our systems are already operational. All we have to do is create the necessary accounts for the customer to start managing their own users and mailboxes.
However, customers need to consider the transition period such as DNS updates, etc.
- How do I transition off to this service? What happens to my data?
You can either archive your data from your current servers locally if you're using simple POP3 and IMAP services and start with a clean mailbox in NETmail. For customers who wish to migrate their data, our consultants will need to study the requirements.

SWISSVAULT is an online storage solution via the Internet for easy convenience of users. It provides high availability for data storage. Users are able to access the online storage and backup service anytime, anywhere with Internet connectivity. SWISSVAULT comes with absolute physical security with 448-bit encryption. - Since this service operates via Internet, how do you ensure smooth transfer of data from the desktop to the hosting centre in Switzerland? Since SWISSVAULT is hosted in Switzerland, what is 1-Net’s role?
1-Net is a reputable and trusted Infocomm Service Provider. Besides hosting and managing some of the country’s most mission critical applications, it has also established itself as the primary local broadband exchange. 1-Net provides the relevant pre and post sales support for SWISSVAULT. Local users shall enjoy the full benefit of a proven and highly secured solution together with the reliable local support offered by 1-Net.
- How do I retrieve the file that was uploaded? Is there any particular settings required on my laptop or desktop?
File can be retrieved via the client installed on the user’s desktop. For the SWISSVAULT Solo package and the optional web access feature for other packages, users can retrieve files via the web. An online briefcase feature is also available for web-based upload of files up to 50MB.
There is no particular setting required. Any files can be uploaded to SWISSVAULT.
- What is the minimum PC configuration required for this service to work effectively?
The system requirements are as follow:
- Microsoft Windows 98 SE, ME, 2000, XP
- Pentium processor
- 128MB RAM
- 1GB free disk space
- Graphics card with 800 x 600 resolution, 256 colours
- Network interface
- Internet access
- Can I change my service configuration, e.g. upgrading the storage size?
For SWISSVAULT Solo, you may upgrade your service via the online service account portal. For other packages, please contact your 1-Net account manager or email us at csc@1-net.com.sg the details. Upon receiving your order, we will work with SIAG to make the change.
- How do I reset the password if I cannot remember?
Please inform the administrator at csc@1-net.com.sg to reset the password.
However, as the encryption key is set by the user, the administrator has no access to the encryption key or to reset it. This is for security purpose. Therefore, users must ensure that they remember the encryption key that they set.
- What if the physical server fails?
There is a built-in redundant system backup. As SWISSVAULT is supported by two data centres located within the Swiss Alps, the same information or files that are stored in the primary server located at the first datacentre is replicated to a server in the second datacenter.
- Apart from the users. Who has access to the server? How can I be guaranteed that the information uploaded will remain confidential?
The files are confidential as they are encrypted by the users?personal 448 bits encryption key before uploaded to the SWISSVAULT.
- Can I delete files uploaded to SWISSVAULT?
SWISSVAULT is meant for critical data backup. Once the files are uploaded to SWISSVAULT, the files cannot be deleted. This is to prevent the accidental deletion and loss of critical files. SWISSVAULT will continue to hold the files for one month after a user terminates his SWISSVAULT account.
