Press Release 1-Net's NexMedia is a premier one-stop platform for digital content distribution Singapore, 21 Apr 2006 1-Net Singapore, a wholly-owned subsidiary of MediaCorp Technologies, is proud to launch NexMedia, a one-stop service for managing content distribution for content owners, aggregators and service providers, with the support of Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA). With the advent of new content platforms like Video-on-Demand (VOD) over broadband, IPTV, Broadband TV, 3G and Digital Cinema, content owners are confronted with challenges of dealing with complex technical and business issues. NexMedia is well-positioned to be the platform of choice as it provides the necessary infrastructure required for ease of digital content distribution across multiple platforms such as Broadband, 3G, IPTV and Digital Cinema. Besides, this infrastructure is also ISO and BS7799 certified and boasts of 1-Net's management of the national broadband backbone offering excellent connectivity both locally and in the region. In addition, industry leaders such as Hewlett Packard Singapore and Microsoft Singapore will also provide cutting-edge technologies, industry best practices and know-how in the areas of design, set-up and operation of NexMedia. NexMedia offers customizable business models to cater to the differing needs and preferences of content owners and aggregators. Such business models include flat-charge model (based on content size and preferred bandwidth subscription), shared revenue model or a hybrid model. GV Films, a major Bollywood producer, has entrusted 1-Net to host their 6,000 movie titles which will be distributed through Singapore to Asia, USA and Europe. 1-Net has also tied up with Ford Studios from USA to engage American companies offering a wide range of digital content, including movies, animation, live action, and music libraries so as to exploit distribution opportunities over VOD, theatrical and wireless platforms worldwide. MOBTV - video-on-demand service of MediaCorpTV - allows viewers to catch up with MediaCorp TV's previous free-to-air TV content, as well as never-seen-on-TV footage. In the pipeline, there are plans for NexMedia to support Channel NewsAsia Online - the news website under MediaCorp News. NexMedia can provide video streaming of news and documentary segments from CNA and arts and kids-related programmes from MediaCorp TV12.
